Building Modular Homes for NBC’s “American Dream Builders”

Don’t miss NBC’s American Dream Builders on Sunday, April 13, 2014, at 8/7c where they will be show casing modular homes built by Palm Harbor Homes and Cavco Homes, Inc. American Dream Builders is a one-hour reality design competition series hosted by renowned designer Nate Berkus that premiered on March 23. In this episode, the focus is on the rising trend of smaller, more efficient homes and how to design for optimal comfort and usability. Cavco Homes and Palm Harbor Homes built four smaller, efficiently designed green cottages called Eco-cottages for this competition.

Our long history as national builders of modular homes, manufactured homes and cottages made Cavco and Palm Harbor Homes the natural choice to build these four identical homes for American Dream Builders.  We deliver high quality modular homes and manufactured homes built to exacting specifications to distant sites on a tight time schedule just about every day of the year.  During the competition, the decorators will face each other in a competition to decorate each home, maximizing the small footprint to get the highest possible usability and comfort for the homeowner. The designers will then have their “cottages” voted on by a neighborhood counsel to determine a winner. Although the homes provided for American Dream Builders are smaller, efficiently designed green cottages, we also can and do build many larger homes, some in excess of 3,000 square feet.

In addition to being shown on American Dream Builders, the winning designer’s home from this episode will be featured in a full color photo spread in an upcoming edition of Better Homes & Gardens.  After the episode, the decorated Eco-cottages will be taken to Ventura Ranch Resort (www.venturaranchkoa.com) in Santa Paula, California, to be used as recreational rental cottages there. Check back here on More Home after the show airs on April 13 to see photos of the decorated homes.

Joe Stegmayer, Chairman, President & Chief Executive Officer of Cavco Industries, Inc., explained, “We are always excited for the opportunity to showcase the unique flexibility and quality of modular home construction. Smaller, more energy efficient homes are a growing part of our industry. It is a special assignment for us to be providing small footprint living spaces for these designers to demonstrate tips and techniques to maximize every area of the home for multi-purpose use while keeping it stylish and livable. We are proud to be the first modular home building company to work with American Dream Builders in its inaugural season.”

Nate Berkus serves as executive producer along with Tom Shelly (“Love in the Wild,” “Survivor”) and Jason Ehrlich (“The Bachelor”). The show airs on NBC on Sunday evenings at 8/7c. The homes were provided in exchange for promotional consideration.
